Report to work on time and regularly, following building sign in/out procedures. All duties must relate to special education students.
Communicate/collaborate daily with case manager to discuss student issues.
Case manager will determine when and how information will be disseminated.
You are responsible for following procedures appropriately and working within the law.
Provide educational assistance to students with disabilities and assist case managers in instructional preparation.
Assist in preparing, modifying, and utilizing instructional materials.
Assist with data collection and progress monitoring.
Use special educational strategies and techniques.
Provide general physical assistance.
Assist teachers in classroom or other educational settings by active participation in required professional development opportunities and training sessions as assigned.
Assist teachers in setting up & conducting various class activities and projects based on a working knowledge and implementation of individual student IEP goals and service times as assigned by the department chair and/or case manager.
Acquire knowledge and skills to support the preK-12 general curriculum.
Provide support to implement students’ IEP’s.
Provide support for students in areas of behavior; assistive technology; physical and self-care which may include feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene.
Provide support in work-based-learning or community experiences.
Provide appropriate tasks requiring reading, handwriting, numeracy, oral and written communication skills.
Willing to be trained as needed in non-violent positive behavioral interventions and support methods and update training as required.
Willing to be trained in other areas such as lifting, transferring, and positioning students with physical support needs; the implementation of discrete trial systems; feeding/oral-motor interventions; signing; Brailing instructional materials; augmentative systems.
